10 Benefits Of Becoming An Early Riser

MoHow  Posted By  Dr. MO   In yesterday’s post I provided 8 tips on how to get up earlier. It’s one thing to know how to do this, it’s another to really want to do it, to be motivated. So today, I am writing about the benefits you will experience if you choose to develop this habit.

Here are 10 benefits… there are many more:

Am Appreciation and Dedication. It’s wonderful to be able to get up, and join each new day near it’s beginning. I suggest creating a morning ritual that includes pausing, and giving thanks. Thanks for waking up, being alive. And then  to recite a series of commitments…To develop and improve yourself, to be kind to yourself and others, to thin and act more positively and constructively, to be an example for your children.

Getting a head start. When you rise earlier you can get an incredible amount done before 8 a.m., by that time you’ve gotten an incredible leg up on the day. There is no better way to start off your day than to wake early and accomplish alot

Peace and quiet.  The early morning hours are so tranquil. It’s my favorite time of day. I truly enjoy that time of calm, that time for myself, when I can think, when I can read, when I can breathe. No shouting, no horns honking, no TV, no telephones ringing.

Sunrise. People who wake late miss one of the greatest feats of nature, repeated  each and every day, the arrival of of the heart of our solar system, the sun. It’s awesome to experience day slowly getting brighter, to watch the midnight blue turn to lighter blue, to see the brilliant colors start to fill the sky. I like to go out on my deck in the warm months, and into my greenhouse in the cold months, and  marvel at the sunrise and say “Good morning sunshine..thank you once again!”

A great breakfast. When you get up earlier and you create more time for breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day. Eat a healthy breakfast, and you will energize yourself.

Am Exercise. There are other times to exercise besides the early morning, of course, but once you have done it early in the day there is no chance it will be canceled because of other things that come up. Morning exercise is virtually never interrupted by something unexpected.

Productivity. Early morning is  the most productive time of the day. I write my morning email AmMo, when there are no distractions, before I check my email or blog stats. I get so much more done by starting on my work in the morning. Then, when evening rolls around, I have much less work that I need to do, and I can spend it with family and friends.

Achieving your goals. Do you have goals? Well there’s no better time to review them and plan for them and do your goal tasks than first thing in the day. Every morning, you can decide what will do  that day to move yourself further towards that goal.

The road less traveled. No one likes rush-hour traffic. When you travel early in the day, the traffic is much lighter, and you get to wherever you want to go much faster, and thus save yourself more time.

Being on time. It’s much easier to to reach a destination, such as a scheduled appointments on time, if you get up early. Showing up late for is never positive. Showing up early is respectful and impressive.

Sounds great…doesn’t it? And you know what..it’s actually even better. The feeling you will have, the exhilaration and sense of accomplishment you will experience are phenomenal.

The greatest benefit for me is that when I rise early and do these things I make my day one where everything else later in the day is much easier to do because I know I have already accomplished so much!
