How To Keep Going And Turn Lemons Into Lemonade

make best of

MoStory   Posted By Dr. MO  Some years ago an unemployed man applied for the position of ‘Maintenance Worker’ at Microsoft’s headquarters in Seattle. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test. “You are hired” he said. “Give me your e-mail address and I’ll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you can start.”

The man replied” I don’t have a computer, nor an email address”. “I’m sorry”, said the HR manager. “If you don’t have an email address, that means, that for us, you can’t be easily contacted And anyone who can’t be easily contacted, cannot have the job.” The man left feeling very low.

He didn’t know what to do, and had only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes i a door to door. In less than two hours, he succeeded in doubling his capital to $20. He repeated the operation three times that day, and by day’s end he went home with $60.

The man realized that he could survive this way, and started to go  to the supermarket earlier each day, and to return later. By doing this , he was able to double or triple his money on many days. After a while, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then over a period of a few years a fleet of delivery vehicles. After 10 years, this man’s business became very large and successful.

One day he concluded it was time to plan for his family’s future, and decided to buy life insurance. He called an insurance broker, met with him and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded the broker asked him his email address. The man replied,”I don’t have one, never have.”

The broker answered curiously, “You don’t have an email address, and yet have succeeded to build a large business. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e mail address?’

The man thought for a while and replied, “Yes, I’d be a Maintenance Worker at Microsoft!”
